Full Job Description
Provide services as an Animal Biologist (Non-Human Primate) in support of the Scientific, Operations and Administrative Resources (SOAR) program at various Institutes and Centers within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts / provides behavioral testing on non-human primates.
Conducts MRI structural scans.
Handles and trains non-human primates.
Provides safe transportation of non-human primates.
Performs historical processing of non-human primate tissue.
Prepares/sterilizes surgical equipment and instruments.
Provides input into research protocol and performs surgical procedures on animals involved in research protocols.
Collects, maintains, and organizes MRI imaging data.
Performs health surveillance and assessment of non-human primates.
Provides training of new staff on the proper handling and testing of non-human primates.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD, Level 5 or Bachelor’s, Levels 1 – 4 in Life Biological sciences
Level 1 – requires 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Level 2 – requires 3-4 years of relevant experience.
Level 3 – requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Level 4 – requires 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Level 5 – requires 11-13 years of relevant experience.
Experience working with animals’ non-human primates in a research environment.
Demonstrates Experience performing surgical procedures with non-human primates.
Experience analyzing experimental data.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff.
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
